Today Rebels SpartaCon presents Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling featuring former WWE RAW General Manager, Brad Maddox. After a breakout performance as a crooked referee to shockingly becoming the General Manager of Monday Night RAW, WWE fans watched Brad Maddox’s on-air career develop weekly as he verbally tangled with the likes of Vince McMahon, Paul Heyman and CM Punk. The much deeper story is that of a very skilled wrestler who had deep roots within WWE’s developmental system and who never got the chance to become the superstar in the ring that he did by becoming one of the strongest non wrestling performers WWE has had on their active roster over the last five years.

Brad recently sat down with Sports Illustrated dot com for an interview and touched on several topics following his release form the company spanning from why he was released to who he views as the future of the company.

On how he was released

“One of the talent relations guys called me the next and said I was being let go,” said Maddox. “I tried to talk to Vince [McMahon] that night, but I wasn’t able to. The decision was made. I would have liked to apologize and explain I didn’t think it was anything [offensive], but there was no discussion.”

His relationship with HHH

“I didn’t have much of a relationship with Hunter,” said Maddox. “He always feels like he’s one of the boys, yet he’s the boss. He was always accessible.”

Who he thinks is the next face of the company

“Sami Zayn is one of the most talented babyfaces I’ve ever seen in-person,” said Maddox. “He’s really believable as a good guy–you just want to cheer for the guy and pull for him. I’m excited to see him on the main roster.”
